Dear PSD Band Members,

I hope this email finds you all having a wonderful summer and that everyone is getting excited for a new school year. It is almost time for the Lentil Festival Parade. Mrs. Dewitt and I want to invite all students who participated in band in the 2009-2010 school year to participate in the annual combined LMS/PHS Marching Band. It is always a fun start to the year, and we hope to see you there. Music for this year will be Up Tight and Parade America, as well as the Parade Cadence (for drums only).

Rehearsals are at Lincoln Middle School- Band Room/Parking Lot/Track:
Thursday, Aug. 19th: 9-10 AM
Friday, Aug.. 20th: 9-10 AM

Parade: Saturday, Aug. 21st - 10:30 AM lineup at Neill Public Library parking lot, parade starts at 11am and ends at the parking lot near Reaney Park.  I'm not sure what number we are in the parade and won't know until the morning of.

Please let me know if you will be able to join us so that we can be sure to have enough music on hand for rehearsal (as well as percussion equipment).

Here are two links to use so you can print off your music early and have it memorized before the 19th!

See you soon!

Welcome to the Lincoln Middle School Bands web site!

The Lincoln Middle School Band Program has been carefully developed and structured to benefit students in a positive manner. Participation as a band student results in more than simply learning to perform with a musical instrument.

Students attain high levels of self-expression, creativity, discipline, cooperation and achievement through the study and performance of music. LMS Bands promote the development of skills necessary for success in all future music and non-music endeavors.

Music participation enhances and promotes respect for self as well as others, problem-solving, teamwork, goal-setting, self-expression, coordination, memory skills, self-confidence, self-esteem, concentration, commitment, and a multitude of other skills and attitudes which prepare students to succeed in the world around them.

The LMS Band Program offers opportunities for shared family experiences, including attendance at musical events, playing music together as a family, performing with family and friends, and the sense of accomplishment and pride for those activities.

I welcome your support as we begin this journey of learning music together. Please email me with any questions you may have!

Sincerely,
Mr. Covill - jcovill@psd267.wednet.edu
